Charlie Puth returns with second full-length album ‘Voicenotes’

On Friday, May 11, Charlie Puth returned to the music scene with the release of his second full-length album Voicenotes. The album, which was originally set to release in January, got pushed back to last Friday due to Puth’s lack of satisfaction with its completion. To many fans’ delight, the 13 song album is finally here and it was well worth the wait.

Voicenotes was fully produced by Puth using Pro Tools and the iPhone app voicenotes (which is where the inspiration for album’s name came). Puth is proof that one does not need expensive equipment or suped-up studios to be successful in the music industry. All one truly needs is an ear for music and talent to produce hit radio songs and a smashing album.

Having a major gift for writing, Puth has created an infectious pop masterpiece full of R&B soul, catchy hooks and addicting choruses–all sang with a silkening tone. The collection of songs is brilliant and best heard when listened to in order of the tracking of the album.

Puth released six of the songs off Voicenotes prior to its release, including “Attention” and “How Long” in 2017 and “If You Leave Me Now,” “Done For Me,” “Change” and “The Way I Am” in the weeks leading up to the album. Each song set the overall tone for the new music and gave listeners an inside look at the stories Puth would be telling.

Notable songs off Puth’s sophomore album include “LA Girls,” “BOY,” “Done For Me” featuring Kehlani and “The Way I Am.” The entire project is really good, but those are my current favorites. Puth’s new music is so melodic and perfect for those who love a mix of funky guitar vibes, strong bass and piano.

Catch Puth this summer as he hits the road on tour with Hailee Steinfeld. He will be in Minnesota August 8 at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. For a complete list of dates click here.
